Risks Associated With Breast Augmentation Procedures

Breast augmentation is a procedure that is growing rapidly in popularity. Perfect breasts are glamorized in the media and many young women feel the need to emulate that. What many do not realize is that breast augmentation carries risks just like any other procedure. One of the main risks of associated with Breast Augmentation is bleeding. Even the most skilled surgeon can have a slip of the knife and cause a patient to bleed profusely. There is also the risk of the patient bleeding from the incision coming open.

Breast augmentation also carries the risk of infection. Most patients who experience an infection will develop symptoms within a few days of surgery. Symptoms of an infection include a fever that is higher than 101 and redness around the area. Women who experience an infection should consult with their doctors so that they can get the appropriate treatment.

There is also the risk of death associated with breast augmentation. Although this procedure is generally regarded as safe and the chance of a patient dying is relatively small, it can still occur even in the most healthy patients. Young women need to realize that they are putting their hands into the lives of the plastic surgeon when they choose to get breast augmentation.
